Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy explains how Lokify (“Lokify”, “we”, “us”, or “our”) collects, uses, shares, and protects your personal data when you use the Lokify mobile application and website (together, the “Service”). Lokify is a freelance marketplace operating in Egypt that connects freelancers with brand owners and businesses.

INFORMATION WE COLLECT

a. Information you provide

• Account details: your name, email address, and password (passwords are stored only in hashed form by our authentication provider — we never see them in plain text), and whether you register as a freelancer or a business owner. • Profile information: for freelancers this may include your professional title, bio, location, skills, experience level, hourly/project rate, portfolio link, and a profile/cover photo. • Your CV / résumé: freelancers upload a CV file (PDF, Word document, or image) at sign-up. This is stored securely and is visible to business owners on the platform so they can evaluate you for work. • Content you create: job posts, applications, community posts, and the messages you send to other users. • Contract and transaction records: details of contracts you enter into with other users, including amounts and milestones.

b. Information collected automatically

• Technical data: device type, operating system, app version, and basic connectivity information used to operate and troubleshoot the app. • Fonts and assets: the app loads display fonts from Google Fonts at runtime, which involves a request to Google’s servers; see “How we share your information” below.

We do not use third-party advertising trackers or sell your personal data.

HOW WE USE YOUR INFORMATION

We use your information to:

• create and manage your account and profile; • match freelancers with relevant jobs and let business owners review applicants (including their CVs); • enable messaging, applications, and contracts between users; • operate, secure, maintain, and improve the Service; • communicate with you about your account, support requests, and important service updates; • comply with legal obligations and enforce our Terms.

HOW WE SHARE YOUR INFORMATION

• With other users: your profile, CV, posts, applications, and messages are shared with the users you interact with, as necessary to use the marketplace. For example, a business owner can view the CV and profile of a freelancer who applies to their job. • With service providers (processors): we use trusted providers to run the Service, including: – Supabase — database, authentication, and secure file storage (hosts your account data and CV files); – Google Fonts — runtime delivery of display fonts. • For legal reasons: where required by law, regulation, legal process, or to protect the rights, safety, and property of Lokify or others.

We do not sell your personal data to third parties.

DATA RETENTION AND ACCOUNT DELETION

You can delete your account at any time from Profile → Delete Account.

• If you have no contracts, your account and personal data are permanently deleted. • If you have active or past contracts, the law and our obligations to the other party require us to keep those financial records. In that case we anonymise your account instead: your personal data (name, bio, skills, CV, photos, contact details) is removed and your account is permanently closed, while the anonymised contract records are retained so the other party keeps their copy.

We otherwise keep personal data only for as long as needed for the purposes described in this policy or as required by law.

YOUR RIGHTS

Depending on your location, you may have the right to access, correct, export, or delete your personal data, to object to or restrict certain processing, and to withdraw consent. To exercise these rights, contact us at info@lokify-eg.com. You may also have the right to lodge a complaint with your local data-protection authority.

SECURITY

We use industry-standard measures to protect your data, including encrypted transport (HTTPS), authenticated access, and access controls that restrict CV and profile data to authorised users. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, but we work to protect your information and to address any incidents promptly.

CHILDREN

The Service is not directed to children under 18, and we do not knowingly collect personal data from them. If you believe a child has provided us with personal data, contact us and we will delete it.

INTERNATIONAL TRANSFERS

Your data may be processed on servers located outside Egypt by our service providers (for example, Supabase data centres). Where this happens, we take steps to ensure your data receives an appropriate level of protection.

CHANGES TO THIS POLICY

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will post the updated version here and revise the “Last updated” date above. Material changes will be communicated through the app where appropriate.
